JSOK Films -- AboutJSOK FILMS is a NYC based production company founded by Jason Sokoloff in 2007 to create original Independent Films, Televison, Web, Commercials and related works. Above all else we strongly believe story is the foundation behind every film or project. We target the creation of original, compelling storylines that speaks of human truths and personal character studies. Combined with these rich characters, and fresh dialogue our purpose is to collaborate with talented writers, actors, directors and many artists along the way to make high quality films and related works of all genres. Whether it's comedy or drama we work to produce projects that are entertaining, thought provoking, exciting, and memorable. Now, his near ten years of experience in the film and television industry have encompassed projects of various sizes as a Producer, Line Producer, Production Manager, and Director. Jason has valuable experience creating board and budgets in EP and Movie Magic for all budget sizes in film and HD mediums. He is also accomplished at running day-to-day operations on set, negotiating contracts, utilizing tax Incentives, and dealing with vendors, payroll companies, agents, lawyers, SAG, Teamsters, IATSE, and other unions. He is proficient in overseeing films through pre-production, principle photography, and post-production. Most recently Jason was the Production Manager for the feature "Pawn" directed by David Armstrong, starring Ray Liotta, Forest Whitaker, Nikki Reed, Stephen Lang, Michale Chicklis, Common, Sean Farris, Martin Csokas, Jonathan Bennett, Jessica Szohr, Max Beesley, Ronald Guttman, and Jordan Belfi. This summer Jason was the Producer and Co-Director for the NY Indie comedy feature "Love Magical" starring Justin Foran, Sophia Urista, Keith Sweat, Craig Mums Grant, Flaco Navaja, John Solo, D.C. Benny, Laine Rettmer, and Ilana Becker. Jason was also the Line Producer for the feature "Stare" starring James Franco, Winona Ryder, Josh Hamilton, Dagmara Dominczyk, Katherine Waterston, and Marin Ireland. He also oversaw the NYS tax incentive application. Jason was the Production Manager for “Maladies” (2010-2011), a 35mm feature starring James Franco, Catherine Keener, David Strathairn, and Alan Cumming. He is the Producer/Line Producer (2008-2011) for “50 To Death” (www.50ToDeath.com), the ongoing popular web-series (21 episodes completed to date), which is currently being shopped for cable television. Jason was the Line Producer (2010) for the feature “Heterosexuals” starring Ashley Williams, Natasha Lyonne, Michael Izquierdo, Todd Weeks, J. Robert Spencer, Kevin Meaney, Daniel Gerroll, Tovah Feldshuh, and Neal Jones. He was Producer/Line Producer (2010) for “Urban Myth Comedy Storytelling,” a multi-camera comedy concert filmed in front of a live audience. Cast included A-list comedians Ben Bailey, D.C. Benny, Jay Oakerson, Vic Henley, and Dean Edwards. Jason was Production Manager for two additional features in 2010: “Shadows & Lies” (HD), directed by Jay Anania, starring James Franco, Josh Lucas, Julianne Nicholson, and Martin Donovan; and “Losing It,” a 16mm feature directed by Macdara Vallely, starring Yainis Ynoa, Rosa Arredondo, Flaco Navaja, Gleendilys Inoa, Joshua Rivera, and Sandra Rodriguez. Also in 2010, Jason was the Production Supervisor (2nd Unit) (2010) for “What’s Wrong With Virginia,” directed by Lance Black, starring Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Emma Roberts, Toby Jones, Carrie Preston, and Amy Madigan. His early production credits include over 200 live comedy shows, which attracted great talent to the stage including Jim Norton, Dave Chappelle, and Jim Gaffigan. Jason was also the Producer and Co-Director of a short comedy pilot that was featured in the Montreal Comedy Festival, and Jason was invited back this Summer to the 2011 Montreal Comedy Festival’s “Pitch 'Til Your Sides Split –TV Series Pitch Session” to present his latest sitcom, “Legion of Skanks.” As a strong proponent of independent filmmaking and comedy, Jason is constantly working on ways to create new films. He is currently in development on several projects and feature scripts. Whether it's comedy or drama, Jason works to produce films that are entertaining, thought provoking, exciting, and memorable.
