JSOK FILMS is the exclusive production company founded by Jason Sokoloff to create original Independent Films and related works. Above all else Jason strongly believes story is the foundation behind every film or project. He targets the creation of original, compelling storylines that speaks of human truths and personal character studies. Combined with these rich characters, and fresh dialogue his purpose is to collaborate with talented writers, actors, filmmakers, and many artists along the way to make high quality films and related works of all genres.
Whether it's comedy or drama JSOK FILMS works to produce projects that are entertaining, thought provoking, exciting, and memorable. In the end Jason's goal is to give back to filmmakers and filmgoers alike those great experiences we all share at the movies while adding NEW ones too.
Jason Sokoloff -- Bio
Jason Sokoloff is an award-winning filmmaker with an MFA in Film from NYU. Prior to filmmaking, Jason was a street artist, later becoming a successful art director and seasoned veteran of NYC's infamously tough stand-up comedy circuit. He received a BFA in Design and had a successful career as an Art Director in advertising and marketing. For over seven years, Jason's work focused on graphic design, photography, and art direction for the largest media companies in the country. His work was shown in countless magazines, websites, and outdoor media.
Now, his near ten years of experience in the film and television industry have encompassed projects of various sizes as a Producer, Line Producer, Production Manager, and Director. Jason has valuable experience creating board and budgets in Movie Magic for all budget sizes. He is also accomplished at running day-to-day operations on set, negotiating contracts, utilizing tax incentives, and dealing with vendors, payroll companies, agents, lawyers, SAG, Teamsters, IATSE, and other unions. He is proficient in overseeing films through pre-production, principle photography, and post-production.
Most recently Jason was the Line Producer for the 8 episode miniseries “Making of the Mob”, for AMC.
Jason was the Producer for “Condemned” (2014) directed by Eli Morgan Gesner, starring Dylan Penn, Ronen Rubinstein, Honor Titus, Genevieve Hudson-Price, Lydia Hearst, Jon Abrahams, Johnny Messner, Kea Ho, Shawn Christensen, Jordan Gelber, Michael Drayer, Kevin Smith Kirkwood, Perry Yung, and Michael Gill.
Jason was the Line Producer for “Pixote’s Game, Direted by Spike Lee, Music "The Game" by Kelly Rowland. A Short Film / Music Video by 40 Acres And A Mule Filmworks In Association With Creators League Project: PEPSI BEATS OF THE BEAUTIFUL GAME (For World Cup 2014). Executive Producer: Frank Cooper III and Pepsi.
Jason was the Co-Producer for “Alone” (2014) directed by Matthew Coppola, starring Mark Kassen, Sophie Turner, Ray Liotta, Ivana Milicevic, Meadow Williams, and Mark Margolis.
Jason was the Co-Producer for “Da Sweet Blood Of Jesus” directed by Spike Lee, starring Stephen Tyrone Williams and Zaraah Abrahams.
Jason was the Producer for “Mania Days” (2013) directed by Paul Dalio, starring Katie Holmes, Luke Kirby, Christine Lahti, Griffin Dunne, Bruce Altman, and Daniel Gerroll.
Jason was the Co-Producer for "Newlyweeds" (*Official Selection Sundance 2013) directed by Shaka King, starring Amari Cheatom, Traeauna Harris, Colman Domingo, Adrian Martinez, Hassan Johnson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Diane Neal.
Jason was the Production Manager for the two features "Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: HIS" and "Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: HERS" (2012) (*Official Selection Toronto International Film Festival 2013) directed by Ned Benson, starring James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Ciarán Hinds, Viola Davis, William Hurt, Isabelle Huppert, Nina Arianda, and Bill Hader.
He was the Production Manager for the feature "Pawn" (2011-2012) directed by David Armstrong, starring Ray Liotta, Forest Whitaker, Nikki Reed, Stephen Lang, Michael Chicklis, Common, Sean Farris, Martin Csokas, Jonathan Bennett, Jessica Szohr, Max Beesley, Ronald Guttman, and Jordan Belfi.
Jason was also the Producer and Co-Director for the NY Indie comedy "Love Magical" (2011-2012) starring Justin Foran, Sophia Urista, Keith Sweat, Craig Mums Grant, Flaco Navaja, John Solo, D.C. Benny, Laine Rettmer, and Ilana Becker.
He was the Line Producer for "The Letter" (2011) starring James Franco, Winona Ryder, Josh Hamilton, Dagmara Dominczyk, Katherine Waterston, and Marin Ireland. He also oversaw the NYS tax incentive application.
Jason was the Production Manager for “Maladies” (2010-2011) starring James Franco, Catherine Keener, David Strathairn, and Alan Cumming.
He is the Producer/Line Producer (2008-2011) for “50 To Death” (www.50ToDeath.com), the ongoing popular web-series (21 episodes completed to date), which is currently being shopped for
Jason was the Line Producer for “Heterosexuals” (2010) starring Ashley Williams, Natasha Lyonne, Michael Izquierdo, Todd Weeks, J. Robert Spencer, Kevin Meaney, Daniel Gerroll, Tovah Feldshuh, and Neal Jones.
He was the Producer (2010) for “Urban Myth Comedy Storytelling,” a multi-camera comedy concert filmed with a live audience. Cast included A-list comedians Ben Bailey, D.C. Benny, Jay Oakerson, Vic Henley, and Dean Edwards.
Jason was Production Manager for two additional features in 2010: “Shadows & Lies” (HD), directed by Jay Anania, starring James Franco, Josh Lucas, Julianne Nicholson, and Martin Donovan; and “Babygirl,” directed by Macdara Vallely, starring Yainis Ynoa, Rosa Arredondo, Flaco Navaja, Gleendilys Inoa, Joshua Rivera, and Sandra Rodriguez.
Also in 2010, Jason was the Production Supervisor for “Virginia” (2010) directed by Lance Black, starring Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Emma Roberts, Toby Jones, Carrie Preston, and Amy Madigan.
His early production credits include over 200 live comedy shows, which attracted great talent to the stage including Jim Norton, Dave Chappelle, and Jim Gaffigan. Jason was also the Producer and Co-Director of a short comedy pilot that was featured in the Montreal Comedy Festival, and Jason was invited back to the 2011 Montreal Comedy Festival’s “Pitch 'Til Your Sides Split –TV Series Pitch Session” to present another sitcom, “Legion of Skanks.”
As a strong proponent of independent filmmaking and comedy, Jason is continually working on ways to create new films. He is currently in development on several projects and feature scripts. Whether it's comedy or drama, Jason works to produce films that are entertaining, thought provoking, exciting, and memorable.
