Katy Scoggin

Katy Scoggin was born and raised in the working class smog haven of San Bernardino, CA.  She pursued degrees in Sculpture and German on full scholarship at Washington University in St. Louis and studied extensively in Germany and Italy.  In 2002, Katy made a documentary about Germany's Islamic headscarf debate as part of her Honors thesis and fell in love with filmmaking.

In 2005, she received a Fulbright fellowship to make a documentary on Turkish women in Berlin.  She hasn't put her camera down since.  Currently Katy is in her third year of graduate film school at New York University, after which she will go out West to make her thesis film, a story about a fish fossil in Kansas and three people who disagree about its origins.
